About Chip & Chloe Squirrel Rescue

My name is Rachel and I'm a volunteer wildlife rehabilitator licensed by the state of NY. I help orphaned and injured wildlife in the Greater Rochester Area. I named my rescue after 2 of the first squirrels I rehabilitated, Chip & Chloe. I now specialize in grey squirrels but I've also helped mice, voles, chipmunks and rabbits.

I've always been an animal lover and would rescue animals even as a young child. I rehabilitated my first orphaned squirrel back in 2006 when I found him in the middle of traffic and saved him from certain death. I learned a lot over the years to follow, and was finally licensed in 2018.  Since then I have continued to rehabilitate wildlife with the goal of releasing them back to the wild. 

Many of my released squirrels visit on a daily basis, including Chip & Chloe! I've befriended a number of wild squirrels as well. You can follow their daily adventures on my social media accounts.
